Do I need an account to use Shutoku?
No — you can use Shutoku fully without an account. An account is only required if you want to sync your vocabulary and review data across multiple devices.
How does spaced repetition work?
Shutoku's SRS engine tracks how well you know each word and schedules the next review at the optimal interval — just before you're likely to forget it. Words you know well appear less frequently, words you're struggling with appear more often.
What Japanese levels does Shutoku cover?
Shutoku covers vocabulary across all JLPT levels from N5 through N1. You can filter the dictionary by level and focus your reviews on the words most relevant to where you are.
How does verb conjugation practice work?
Shutoku includes a full conjugation engine covering all major verb forms — て-form, た-form, negative, potential, causative, passive, and more. You can practice conjugations for any verb in the dictionary.
Can I use romaji instead of kana?
Yes — you can switch between hiragana, katakana, and romaji at any time. We recommend gradually reducing romaji use as your reading improves.
How do I sync across devices?
Create an account in Settings → Account. Once signed in, your vocabulary and review schedule sync automatically across all your devices.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
On the sign in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email address. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes.
How do I delete my account?
Email us at shutoku@systemsatlasproject.com and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 48 hours.
Is Shutoku free?
Yes, Shutoku is free to download and use. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
